Hand in Hand of Stolen Sisters is a mixed media digital artwork that brings two figures into relation: So-nyeo-sang, the Korean Statue of Peace, and the girl in the Red Dress, remembering Canada's Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA People. Set against a photograph of kʷikʷəƛ̓əm territory, their anonymity is intentional, holding space for the thousands of sisters whose names were erased and whose stories were hushed into silence on this land.

Jihye Kim
Jihye Kim (she/her) is a Korean-descendant racialized settler living, working, and studying on the unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-speaking Coast Salish peoples, particularly the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. As a Master of Arts student in Early Childhood Education with over ten years of experience in the field, Jihye is dedicated to the ongoing process of unlearning and listening. Her current research is rooted in a commitment to learn from Indigenous scholars and to walk alongside racialized settler educators in their decolonial inquiry. Her current projects focus on creating collaborative learning spaces for dialogue and reflection, seeking to understand how settler educators might meaningfully engage in Truth and Reconciliation through Indigenous land-based practices on Indigenous peoples' lands.
